Bravo Trinity Children and Youth!  You are a big hit with the Students who staff the Spartan Food Pantry.  They want me to tell you how much they appreciated all you did with Aaron’s leadership to provide so many great hygiene products to the pantry.  My car was filled up to the ceiling today inside the passenger seats and in the trunk delivering all the goodies…it was joyful!  Many thanks to you all from my heart to yours!  Deacon Kathey

One of our students, Ms. Areli Sandoval, who majors in Chican-X Studies at San Jose State and is hoping to spend her life serving the underserved as a social worker and interpreter, joined me on Monday at the press conference in front of Representative Zoe Lofgren’s office, to share her story.  Areli arrived as a child from Mexico with her mother crossing the Arizona desert in the winter. Her story is a powerful one.  Areli will graduate at the close of the fall semester.  She has been with our ministry for over four years now.  Can you feel how proud I am of her?

What fun we had on Trinity Sunday doing our first service project together.

I drove home with a warm happy feeling of gratitude for Aaron, Daniel and the children who came together to design gift bags and make hygiene kits for San Jose State.  My thanks to the people of Trinity who made so many donations, a wonderful outpouring of generosity.  I guarantee you that the students who visit the Spartan Pantry will be blessed indeed.

Canterbury Bridge Campus Ministry is indebted to and grateful for our host families who open up their hearts and a room in their homes at no cost to students who are housing insecure.  In 2021, we plan to increase the number of this important partner community.  Host families are a wonderful addition to the Church without Walls serving God’s people in a powerful way.

Final Exams are already being prepared or are in progress and before we know it, the Spring semester will draw to a close.  We have two students graduating in May, one of whom who has been with me for three years.  I am so proud of them and all of our students who faced hardship and kept going anyway. What a privilege the Lord gave to me to walk beside them for the time I was able and see them complete their academic goals.

Campus Ministry was the primary user of Trinity’s labyrinth.  The former Dean gave us custody of it several years ago and now it is back at Trinity.  The portable labyrinth brought new dimensions of awareness to students in Health Science and Recreation.  Initially not understanding why they had to walk the labyrinth as part of their class work each semester, most embraced the experience post-labyrinth as a way to become centered, feel Sacred Presence and get in touch with life questions.  As chaplain, I was often touched by student response.

Serving our student residents really is a joy not only for me as the chaplain, but also for our board members. Pictured is one of our graduate students who now lives with a host family seen here celebrating the completion of his under graduate work at SJSU with members of our board, the Rev. Ernest Cockrell, President, Mrs. Gerry Chartrand, the Rev. Nayan McNeill, and Mrs. Anne Louise Heigho, a beloved friend and Secretary Emerita,  who we lost last year.
